Monique Cohen is an award-winning multidisciplinary visual artist, published author, life drawing model, and arts leader whose creative journey is rooted in exploration, imagination, and the freedom of artistic expression.
As the artist behind L’Art Déverrouillé, meaning Unlocked Art, Monique embraces an artistic philosophy that challenges limitations and celebrates the endless possibilities of creativity. Her work spans acrylic painting, watercolor, mixed media, fluid art, and experimental techniques, reflecting her fascination with color, texture, movement, nature, and the mysteries of the universe.
Her artistic achievements include First Place in Blue Koi Gallery’s Dreamers 2026 exhibition for The Worlds Within, a Distinction Award for The Big Bang: Celestial Awakening, and an Honorable Mention for Hushed Radiance. She has also received recognition through her selection for People’s Artist, presented by Johnny Depp. These accomplishments reflect her evolving artistic voice and growing presence within the arts community.
Beyond the canvas, Monique is a children’s book author, including The Hummingbirds of Ms. Allison’s Garden. Through storytelling, she extends her creativity into literature, inspiring curiosity, imagination, and appreciation for the natural world.
Monique also serves as a life drawing model, contributing to the artistic process from another perspective. Her participation supports fellow artists in their exploration of the human form, observation, and creative interpretation.
With a degree in Business Administration and ongoing studies toward a degree in Finance, Monique brings business knowledge, organizational leadership, and an entrepreneurial perspective to her creative endeavors. Her experience combines artistic innovation with marketing, business development, administration, and community engagement.
She currently serves as Director and First Vice President of the Art League of Daytona Beach, where she is dedicated to expanding artistic opportunities, strengthening educational programming, supporting fellow artists, and fostering a thriving creative community.
Through L’Art Déverrouillé, Monique continues to build a body of work that celebrates artistic independence, transformation, and discovery. Whether through painting, writing, modeling, or leadership, her purpose remains the same: to encourage others to look beyond boundaries and discover what creativity can unlock.
